What Small Business Choices Are You Making?

I have started reflecting on the choices I have made in both life and business and wanted to share with you about one of those choices and how it worked out.
My daughter recently graduated from 5th grade. I started to think back to our decision to put her in a public school system. For her first 4 years of school she was in a private school but we weren’t satisfied with the curriculum and started discussing putting her in public school. In our area, the public school system is award winning and I had conversations with everyone I knew that sent their children there.
My husband said to me one day that with all we teach our daughter about how to handle things we should put her in an environment with the most possibilities, which would be this public school system.
A few days later, my third grade daughter came to me in my office and gave me all the pluses to going to the new school. She laid out the benefits to each issue that she could think of. I just looked at her and couldn’t believe she was so wise at such a young age.
At her recent graduation I asked her how she felt about the decision to change schools a couple years ago and she was so happy. She told me that she was happiest about the choice that she got to make on what school to go to.
Now I ask you…what small business choices are you making…and are they the right ones for you?In our business every day there are new decisions to make and multiple choices in front of us for different paths to pursue.
• Add a Joint Venture
• Add an affiliate program
• Work on a new product
• Hire additional staff
Even in a large corporation, there are small business choices to make. Not only do we have large choices in our business but small choices each day.
I have found through my daughter that you need to always take a step back in business and life and really think through the issue and list the benefits in order to make the right choice for your business.

I must say your daughter is really bright at her age, ya sometimes a kid teach us some of the life’s lesson in such a simple manner that you are left dumbfounded. But as your daughter taught it to you you taught it to me,i think you are right we need to step back and take a bird view of the whole situations ans then act accordingly.I would like to know how your spritualprenuer program is going to do for my business.
Asking a question to ourselves such as “is this decision bring me closer to my goals or taking me futher away from my goals?” can be a useful check and balance when making large or small every day decisions.
Nice post. Thanks for your tips.
Sharon, I believe it’s important to ask this question not only when we are about to embark on a new business effort, but as an on-going question about our business. Every 3 months, I take some time to reflect and let go of what isn’t working so I can embrace something better suited.
Thank you for reminding conscious business-owners about this important step!
Many blessings,
Nancy
Really very useful content is posted above.I am impressed with your thoughts that are written above for making our small business.
I am in awe of my children every time I’m with them and I do learn quite a bit from just observing and interacting with them.
I think the best business decision to make is that you CAN succeed! It’s an internal game more than anything.
You can call it spiritual power, or positive thinking, or whatever. But I believe we are all divinely made with the ability to succeed. It’s just all the garbage we’ve accumulated over the years that is gunking up the process.
The job now is to get ‘un-gunked’ and press on to whatever success you desire.
Nice blog. Thanks you for the enlightening about small business. The more you know, the better you will succeed!. Also, nice layout. I use Brian’s themes a couple of my sites. Thanks

Depends on the business. Growth isn’t easy, and it doesn’t happen overnight. Whether you feel your business is ready to diversify its service offerings, enter new markets, or branch into new territory, a strategic and operational plan for growth is a must.
I agree we do need to take a step back when making choices. It’s easy to make a choice quickly and without much thought – yet if we took a few moments to think about it, we might decide on a different choice that would work out better.
After the crisis stroked I definitely stopped thinking on hiring additional stuff, my primer thoughts are now about whom should I fire.
Sounds like you have a smart kid on your hands! One of the joys of having your own business is making decisions of your own.
Nowadays, you must be super creative to have a good business idea that works.:’~
