Sometimes We All Need Some Mentoring To Show Us How To Cope…

Guest Post By: Caroly Wilson-Elliott

In a staff meeting, Martha described all the obstacles and setbacks her team had encountered while starting a new project. She was frustrated and tired. Her energy was low. Soon, everyone in the room was tense, shooting down ideas and suggestions, frustrated by our own inability to find a creative solution to the stalled project.

My first instinct was to try and shift the energy of the group from dissonance to cooperation. But, no one was having any of that.  Soon, I was too exhausted to even try. I began wondering why I was even here. This wasn’t any fun!

I disengaged from the discussion and wondered why I had bothered to attend this meeting? What was so appealing about this project when we began? A spark of energy ran through my body and out of my mouth popped the words, ‘”Martha would you remind us of the vision we’re holding for this project? What was our original intention?”

As Martha spoke of our goals and dreams and visions, the tension drained from her body, color returned to her face, passion for the project softened her voice. The other team leaders sat silently, remembering in their bodies, the creative energy and enthusiasm they had all shared at the original opportunity to take on the project. When the discussion resumed, everyone’s creativity flowed and it took less than five minutes to find a joyful Inspired solution to the seeming blocks and obstacles that had shown up.

It was not my question that changed the group’s ability to problem-solve. It was the energy behind the question that made the shift possible. We’ve all experienced situations with another person who “said” all the right things, but deep down, we knew they didn’t really mean it, that they weren’t concerned with how we were feeling.

If I had asked the same question while I was still trying to “fix” the group’s frustration–if fixing everyone else had been my intention–the question could have been ignored or perhaps escalated the tension in the room. Martha, and the rest of the group, would have perceived, consciously or unconsciously, my true motive of wanting them to relieve my frustration with the meeting.

As soon as I focused in, however briefly, on my own needs–remembering why I wanted to be a part of the project–my energy shifted into a place of self-responsibility. From that energy of self-responsibility an Inspired Action–asking the question that would re-connect me to my original desire for the project–came so suddenly that the words were out of my mouth before I knew it.

Now, when I want to be open to Inspired Actions, I just ask myself two questions: Read more

Do You Know How Important Sales Negotiation Training Is For Your Business?

I recently taught sales negotiation training to a corporate client’s company.  They were seeking guidance in their procedure.  What I teach is how people can come into sales negotiations with a softer approach.

The intellectual goal of the company was win win but the energy they were giving off was aggressive, manipulative, and condescending.

The CEO was confident in his teams negotiation skills but felt that the previous training they had was out of step with the positive energy he wanted in the business.

People that these sales negotiators worked with could pick up on the negative energy they were giving off and it was making sales very difficult to close.

The CEO gave me a videotape of a negotiation so that I could see what was happening and the best way to change that. I saw that the words were correct but the body language was out of alignment.

Do You Have A Deathly Fear and Need Tips On Public Speaking?

I was surprised to find that fear of public speaking ranks higher than fear of death…aren’t you?

I have many clients that come to me for tips on public speaking because there is some reason that they are scared of it.

One of my clients is a personal trainer.  He has amazing information that needed to get out to everyone possible but he came to me terrified of public speaking.

I found out that this fear stemmed from a report he had to give in fifth grade.  Something went wrong with the report and the poor guy became the laughingstock of the class.  This held him back from wanting to speak in public again.

Are You Aware of the Correct Steps To Quit A Job?

I am often asked by clients how they will know it is right to quit a job they despise.  I always tell them that there are certain steps to quit a job that you want to follow.

Leslie, one of my coaching students was in a job that she absolutely could not stand to be at.  She was miserable and focused on how much she couldn’t stand what she was doing every day.

When I started working with Leslie I explained to her that she could not keep focusing on the negative.  Instead of thinking about what she didn’t like at her current job she had to switch her focus to what she really wanted at her next job.

You need to do energy work first to change your inner alignment before you can begin to see changes in the outer outcomes. Read more

What Career Builders Do You Want To Implement In Your Business Right Now?

I am a Certified Spiritual Life Counselor, and over many years of working with clients I have realized that you cannot vibrate or attract for others.  They have to put that energy out themselves to get what they want back.

Often, clients come to me looking for help in career builders.  They want to open themselves up to new opportunities, take on more joint ventures, offer new services or products.

As we begin our work together I find that most of the time it is fear that is holding these people back.  They are scared to move forward because they don’t know what will happen.

What if they fail?  Well, failing is not a bad thing.  It just shows you what you need to do differently.

By shifting their belief process, my clients are able to get rid of the beliefs that are not serving them and move forward with the ones that are.  They realize that their fear is all in their head and that they really can do anything they want, they just need to believe in what they set out to accomplish.

Being in alignment with their natural talents enables my clients to start something new and exciting that they really want.

Do You Know How To Write A Business Plan For A Position You Really Want?

Recently, I was asked to be a reference for one of my students in obtaining a job.  The position was taking on a role of teaching disabled college students.  Anne didn’t know how to write a business plan for the job outlining everything she knew she could accomplish.

When I was called for the reference, I was asked very specific questions as to why I thought Anne would be a good match for this position.

I explained that Anne was very skilled as a teacher and would be very effective with these students because she would be using Spiritual Coaching skills.

She would be teaching the students strategies to activate new beliefs and be more effective in Energy Management.  Anne would be able to help them learn their material and would do this with instructions on creative visualization and partnering with their inner knowing.

There were 20 people being considered for this position… Read more

Do You Have A List Of Small Business Ideas That You Would Love To Joint Venture On?

Joint ventures are an incredible way to grow your business.  They are a win-win solution for both parties involved. If you have a list of small business ideas that you could use for Joint Ventures, you should get started on them!

One of my students really wanted to start Joint Venture campaigns but wasn’t sure how.  We started using the Energy Management System to find out what beliefs he had around joint ventures, which ones were serving him and which were not.

I helped him to learn how to take the beliefs that were not serving him and shift those beliefs to new ones that DID serve him in what he wanted to accomplish. Read more
