What’s the Proper Way to Quit a Job?

I’ve talked to many people that have told me they are unhappy in their job – they want to leave but they’re not sure of the best way, or even if it’s a wise move – I mean, wouldn’t it be better to just stay and be miserable considering the economy?

Personally, I can really relate to being unhappy in your job – it’s what happened to me and how I ended up doing the work I’m in now.  I was VERY unhappy in my job!

I was a corporate executive, working about 90 – 100 hours a week.  I was never disconnected – I took my work home, took phone calls at home, and often worked late into the night.

I had this kind of Type-A, workaholic personality that pushed me to do all this, but I was so unhappy because I didn’t feel like I was doing anything that really made a difference.

In my experience, I’ve come to understand that if you are unhappy in your job to the point where you are looking for the proper way to quit a job, there is a real disconnect – an energetic misalignment with where you are right now.

Your job may have served you extremely well over the years, but now there is a disconnect and you want more.  It’s like you’ve launched some rockets – what I call Order Forms to the Universe – and you’ve basically launched an Order Form that says:

  • I want to feel fulfilled in my work
  • I want to enjoy the people I work with
  • I want to make the kind of money that makes me happy – that pays my bills and luxuries
  • I want more

The disconnect is that while you want more, you’re in a situation where you only keep focusing in on how you don’t have it, so what you get is a crashing against you’re current beliefs – there’s no way I can do it, I won’t be able to find anything new, etc.

For me it was along the lines of, “Who would ever pay me the kind of money that I am making now in any other career? I’m not really qualified to do anything else!

The truth was, there were a lot of beliefs I had to shift – because it was my own beliefs that were actually holding that miserable reality in place for me! Read more

What Difference Can the Laws of Attraction Make to Paying Your Bills?

I came across these wise words from Elyse Killoran and thought they would be a good reminder in these times…

“Tightness. Procrastination. Anxiety. Yuck!

Are these the words/feelings that you typically associate with the monthly (or bi-monthly) ritual of paying your bills?

If so, you may want to consider what impact your vibrational statement to the Universe is having on your future financial outlook.

The Laws of Attraction - the most powerful law in the Universe - insures that ‘like attracts like’. In other words, your experience around money today sets the stage for your experience of money tomorrow.

As the teacher Abraham reminds us, ‘You can’t get thin from hating being fat. And you cannot attract prosperity from disliking being poor.’ As we focus on money and experience a sense of lack, we become vibrational magnets for future experiences of financial lack.

To propose that how you hold the experience of paying your bills will affect your financial future is a radical shift.

Here’s a new approach to bill-paying that will support you in creating prosperity - from the inside-out! Read more

Are You Prepared to Do a Promotional Business Talk?

When you are placed before an audience, you can still provide a serving experience, even in a group.

It can be like you are just speaking to one person, just touching one person’s heart – and it’s like doing a one-on-one consultation.

Each one in the group has a similar connection.   It is just like doing the one-to-one consultation, except that you are doing it in a group setting.

This is a key to being really effective in a group, a workshop, or in a keynote speech. You want to be able to feel as if you are talking to one person.  You want to make a connection as you take people through the essence of the selling to serving process.

You want to be able to take people through a similar process, a vibrational process to help them come to a place of understanding and self-discovery that they know they want what you have.

It’s both an art and a science at the same time and, it’s important for you to take into account the energetics of partnering with Spirit on this.

Offering an in-person complimentary promotional business talk or workshop can be a great marketing channel.  You start moving energy your own energy by getting out and actually doing something with people.

I do recommend that you do not use the term “free” even if you are making a presentation and are not charging for it. Read more

For many entrepreneurs, adding new elements, learning new tools or simply needing to make some changes creates stress.

And stress can often tempt you to revert to old ways of coping or managing things.

If you are bumping into that right now or sometime in the future, it’s a good time to remember to invest some time in managing your energies.

If your business is not where you want it to be or you can’t seem to take the next step as an entrepreneur, you need to Read more

Do You Know What is Unique About Your Own Business?

One of my favorite clients was a Minnesota family that owned a small car repair business.  When I was helping them explore and identify their uniqueness, they told me that they didn’t have anything that made them particularly unique.

Upon digging deeper, they shared that it was very important to them that their customers felt like family.

So they put homemade cookies on the car seat when the car was fixed, so that when you picked up your car, you got warm, fresh, home-baked sweets.

They would also pick up their customers and drive you to where they wanted to go while they fixed their cars. They even gave their customers a loaner car while they were doing repairs. They thought everyone did this, so they didn’t see it as unique!

They were genuinely caring, hospitable people who treated everyone like family.  Thus, who they are and what they have provided ever since they created their business 20 years ago became their Unique Serving Offer (USO).

“Joe’s auto repair shop, where we treat you like family – We pick you up, drop you off and leave fresh baked cookies on your car seat.”

As you read this story, what’s coming up for you?  What do you enjoy receiving?  What do you enjoy giving?  Are words – ideas – maybe even songs – coming to your mind?

What is unique about you? Read more

How Do You Create the Foundation for Taking Action in Starting Your Own Business?

Yesterday I talked about making a 30-Day Action Plan for starting your own business.  The thing is, there are many layers to making a plan and taking action, and the stronger your foundation is, the greater your success will be.

If you are creating an Action Plan for your own business, it is a good idea to always make sure to include the following foundational steps – taking the time to create what I call an Energy Blueprint:

First, surface up the energy that you have activated about whatever goal or project you want to work on.  No matter what it is, it’s OK.

You are going to write down the beliefs, patterns, evidences, and actions - anything that’s serving you about your business.

Next, identify the beliefs that may not be serving you as well.  Drill them down! You will write these down as well.

Following that, you will create one new progressive belief – something that makes you feel just a little bit better.

You can use what I call a Merry-Go-Round visualization to assist you in emerging a progressive belief by imaging a Merry-Go-Round in a children’s park.

When you are on this kind of Merry-Go-Round, you have to run around in a circle, holding onto the bars until you have gathered enough momentum, or energy, to jump on.

If you don’t have enough momentum you won’t be able to get on.

If you are running too fast and try to jump on, you may get tossed further by the momentum. You will be able to visualize through this if you are a vibrational match to the progressive belief by seeing and feeling in this visualization if you got “On” the Merry-Go-Round.

After you have emerged a progressive belief, you will use that new belief daily in an energy management tool called Scripting. Read more

How Can You Get Your Mind Off of What May be Going Wrong in Your Own Business?

I mentioned yesterday how much I enjoy using tools in formats like charts, lists and bullet points - I find that when you write things out this way, it really helps you to see where you were, where you are, and where you want to be very clearly, which is why many of the spiritual energy management tools that I share are in these formats.

I know not everyone enjoys listing things out this way - it’s a bit of a personal preference!  But if lists aren’t your thing, how DO you record your positive evidences?

One of the absolute, most effective ways of changing your vibrational output and bringing further success to your own business is in the idea of focusing on what is going right for you.

I know - it sounds simple to say - “Count your blessings” - right.

But have you ever really thought about how easy it is to be negative?  I hear it around me all the time:

  • It’s only a matter of time until I get laid off…
  • With the economy going the way that it is, how can I expect success in my own business
  • I don’t have enough clients…
  • How am I going to pay for this…
  • I’m not good at sales…
  • ON and ON and ON….

Do these thought patterns sound familiar to you?  Do they resonate with you? Do you think you could come up with a couple more points to add to that list?

If so, there is something very wrong with the way that you are looking out at the world!

CHANGING THIS PERCEPTION IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT YOU CAN DO IF YOU TRULY WANT TO SUCCEED IN YOUR BUSINESS DURING THESE TIMES.

So then, how do you do it?
